are proud to support Paul Spencer on The Tour D'Afrique
SUPPORTED CHARITIES
For the Tour D'Afrique Paul has decided to focus his fundrasing attempts on the following two charities; The Lupus Foundation of America and The Tour D'Afrique Foundation.
LUPUS FOUNDATION OF AMERICA
Paul’s sister, Marie is the reason he has chosen to raise money for the Lupus Foundation. Marie was diagnosed with lupus (SLE) at the age of 13 and has been living with the disease and its effects ever since.
Raising money for the LFA during his world record challenge brought Paul into contact with other lupus sufferers, mainly via their facebook page, Not only did he learn more about this disease but also made some great new friends and continues to be motivated by their support.
Follow the link to donate to the LFA via YesHesMad page of Hope in honor of Marie.

The Lupus Foundation of America, Inc. (LFA) is the foremost national nonprofit voluntary health organization dedicated to finding the causes of and cure for lupus and providing support, services and hope to all people affected by lupus.
The LFA energetically pursues its mission through five program objectives:
The LFA was established in 1977 when local lupus organizations came together to bring national attention and resources to lupus. Since that time, the LFA has evolved into the field’s preeminent nonprofit lupus organization with nearly 300 chapters and support groups nationwide.
The LFA plays a key role in bringing together all stakeholders -- researchers, clinicians, elected officials, policy makers, industry leaders, other national organizations, and people affected by lupus -- to address lupus on the federal, state and local levels.
- Provides direct financial support to researchers through LFA's own national research program, Bringing Down the Barriers
- Advocates for increased public and private sector support for research on lupus
- Translates research findings into medically sound information and programs for people with lupus, their families, physicians, and other health professionals
- Heightens public awareness of the impact of lupus
- Supports individuals with lupus, their families and caregivers

THE TOUR D'AFRIQUE FOUNDATION
As he will be cycling through 10 different African countries when he competes in the Tour D’Afrique Paul feels it very important to support those local children and so his second charity of choice is the TDA Foundation which aims to donate bicycles in the countries the tour passes through.

The Tour d’Afrique Foundation is an integral part of our company vision. The foundation was set up at the same time as the Tour d’Afrique Bicycle Race/Expedition to fulfill key elements of our mission:
To fulfill these objectives the company has focused on:
- To give something back to the people and the communities of the areas that we pass through on our cycling tours.
- To raise consciousness about bicycles as an alternative and, in many ways, better and more beneficial means of transport.
To fulfill these objectives the company has focused on:
- donating bikes to individuals and organizations in Africa
- supporting bicycle advocacy and promoting projects that protect the environment
- encouraging participants in the tour to raise funds for their favored charity whether in their home country or in Africa or both
