OTHER BLOG'S
Find out more about the other rider's from their blogs. Paul has already made some great new friends - find out who they are and what made them decide to take up this challenge?
Kari and Kendra are embarking on the Tour d’Afrique (TDA), in support of Water1st, a non-profit dedicated to increasing access to clean water, basic sanitation and hygiene in poor communities around the world!

In their own words "It is important for us both to not only be the recipients of incredible experiences that Africa and its people will surely provide, but also to give back to the people and their communities.  For this reason, we are raising funds to provide clean water and sanitation to a village in Ethiopia. Join us in our adventure by
donating to our project"
I've always loved to ride or race my bike since I was a young lad.  I decided to do this trip about 1 month ago, so I better get training or I'll be in a load of hurt sooner, rather than later.  I look forward to meeting everyone next year and going for an amazing ride
In Scotts Own words "With the TDA I am looking forward to 4 months worth of days whose future is unwritten. I will probably be more tired than at any other point in my life, but I like to think that will serve to make me more appreciative of the many "toilet holes" I will dig. I suppose the volume of food we will consume means eating begins to take the form of a job. Admittedly, I am looking forward to that in the same way Chuck Norris probably looks forward to dishing out his first roundhouse kick of the day: it has to be done for the fun to continue.
I have never ridden a bike more than 4 consecutive days but will embrace the chance to measure the toughness of my derriere. In the end, this is an opportunity to find out in a non-lethal environment what you're made of, and what your friends are made of too. Throw in some stunning landscapes, a cast of interesting and motivated explorers, the sights/smells/smiles of far away lands, a healthy dose of GI distress and we have the makings of one memorable experience. Or at the very least something to write home about..."
In Kristians own words "My interest in photography, and especially landscape photography has definitely had a great impact on the choice I made to cycle across Africa. One thing I like about photography is that it drives me towards bigger experiences and challenges where I get to meet people that think differently and have different experiences than myself.

My biggest challenge is that I don’t have any cycling experience. I therefore only have about four months to buy what I need and get going with my training schedule. Check out my blog to follow my progress towards the tour, and also the four exciting months in Africa"
Paul is from Alberta, Canada and has been riding and road racing for about 35 years - he'll be "Racing" the Tour ...

We both look forward to meeting all of you and hope for a safe, fun and very interesting adventure ...
Hi, I’m Len DeMoss, age 62 (at the moment) and will probably be the “old guy” on the 2011 TDA.
I have been a long time runner, having done over a hundred marathons, and numerous ultrarunning events of 50K on up to 100 miles. I’ve run multi day runs through the Andes in Peru (including twice running the ancient Inca trail to Machu Pichu) as well as runs through Patagonia in Chile, Argentina and competed in the Comrades Marathon in South Africa 3 times and the Two Oceans Marathon in Capetown. I took up cycling in 1991 as cross training for running and cycling has developed into an intense passion.

I am really excited about doing the 2011 TDA and looking forward to doing this trip with my son. I’ve been to Victoria Falls, Namibia and other countries we’ll be riding through and can’t wait to do it on my bike.

I have always tried to live my life on a philosophy of the only regrets in life are the risks you were afraid to take. I wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity of riding TDA once in my life.
Alice lives in the hills of the Peak District in England and has left her desk behind in search of the adventure of The TDA.

Alice describes herself as a "very ordinary person who just want to find out what a challenge like this is like"
